ഗുഹാ വാസിയായ കാട്ടു മനുഷ്യനില് നിന്നും നാം എത്രയോ പിന്നോക്കം പോയിരിക്കുന്നു!. സംസ്കാരം ഉണ്ടെന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെടുമ്പോഴും നാം കാട്ടിക്കൂട്ടുന്ന പരാക്രമങ്ങള് മൃഗങ്ങളെ പ്പോലും ലജ്ജിപ്പിക്കും. അടുത്ത കാലത്ത് ഡല്ഹിയില് ഒരു പെണ്കുട്ടിയോട് കുറെ മനുഷ്യര് കാട്ടിയ ക്രൂരത ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട സംഭവമല്ല. മാധ്യമങ്ങള് ചൂടുള്ള പുതിയ വാര്ത്ത എത്തിക്കുമ്പോള് നാം ഇതും മറക്കും, മറ്റു പലതും പോലെ. നിയമങ്ങള് കൊണ്ട് മാറ്റാന് കഴിയുന്നതാണോ മനുഷ്യന്റെ മനോഭാവം?. നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി സ്ത്രീകളോടു കാട്ടുന്ന ഈ അനീതികള്ക്ക് അറുതി ഉണ്ടാകുമോ?. മലയാളി അസോസിയേഷന് സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന തുറന്ന ചര്ച്ചയില് പങ്കെടുക്കുക. ശനിയാഴ്ച (12.01.2013) വൈകിട്ട് 6 മണിമുതല് കേരളാ ഹൌസില് എത്തിച്ചേരുക. പ്രധാന അവതാരകന് : Prof തോമസ് സെബാസ്ട്യന് ( university of Birmingham ) Atrocities against women continues though we claim to live in a civilized society. Are we really civilized? Irrespective of the prime roles played by women in family and society, she is treated as the second sex!. She is hunted down. Can changes in law trigger a change in attitude? You are invited to participate the open discussion based on the recent gang rape happened in Delhi. Lead Presenter: Prof Thomas Sebastian ( University of Birmaingham ) The programme jointly hosted by MAUK women's group and Kattan Kaappiyum Kavithayum - ( Malayalam literary evening ) is scheduled to be on Saturday 12th January 2012 at Kerala house from 6 pm. Report: An open discussion, based on the recent gang rape that has happened in Delhi, hosted by the Malayalee Association of UK (MAUK) on January 12 at Kerala House, 671 Romford Road, Manor Park, London was attended by a houseful crowd. Majority of those who attended felt that there should be serious introspection or examination of one's own conscious thoughts and feelings when it comes to looking at women in general - be it at home or outside world. Prof Thomas Sebastian from the University of Birmingham and Vaidyaratnam Dr. R Raghavan were the invited presenters. The Open discussion started with Mrs Meera Manoj's introduction explaining to the audience the aims and objectives of the discussion. A minute silence was observed remembering the Delhi gang-rape victim. This was followed by an invitation speech by Mrs Sreekala Pillai and an introduction speech by Mr Francis Angilose. Participants expressed openly about their views on the issue of rape where some of the female participants said that men’s attitude towards women must change. Few of the notable views expressed was to work towards a clean political system integrating women to more powerful roles and to have an easy fearless system for reporting rape. Priyavrathan addressed the audience expressing his genuine hope to make a change in our society by making the necessary changes within yourselves. Sudheer Vasudevan gave the vote of thanks on behalf of MAUK to guests as well as the participants. The programme was jointly hosted by MAUK women's group and Kattan Kaappiyum Kavithayum - (Malayalam literary evening) which is open to all. മനുഷ്യനെ മനുഷ്യനായി കാണാന് കഴിയാത്ത തെന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ്?. പച്ചക്കു പറഞ്ഞാല് വിവരമില്ലാത്തതുകൊണ്ട് മാത്രമാണ്. വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ മുള്ളവര്ക്കും വിവരക്കേടുണ്ടാകാം. കപടമായ വിശ്വാസങ്ങളും, തെറ്റായ അറിവും, മതാന്ധതയും, വിവരക്കേടിന്റെ ഈറ്റില്ലമാണ്. അറിവിന്റെ വാതായനങ്ങള് കൊട്ടി അടച്ചു, സ്വന്തം വിശ്വാസങ്ങളും പ്രമാണങ്ങളും ശരി മാത്രമാണെന്ന് കരുതുമ്പോള് നഷ്ടമാകുന്നത് ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ സത്യങ്ങളാണ് . ആണും പെണ്ണും വ്യത്യസ്തമാണ് . വ്യത്യസ്തമെന്നാല് ഒന്ന് മറ്റൊന്നിനേക്കാള് മികച്ചതെന്ന് അര്ഥമില്ല. ഡല്ഹികള് ഉണ്ടാകുന്നത് എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ് ? ചോദ്യം പിന്നെയും അവശേഷിക്കുന്നു. വാദ പ്രതിവാദങ്ങള് കൊണ്ട് മുഖരിതമായ വേദിയില് , ചര്ച്ചയുടെ ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങള് കുറെ എങ്കിലും ചോര്ന്നു പോയി എന്നു സമ്മതിക്കേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു. നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി നടക്കുന്ന അനീതിയും, അതിനെ മാറ്റിമറിക്കാന് മടിച്ചു നില്ക്കുന്ന നിഷ്ക്രിയ ഭരണ യന്ത്രവും നമ്മളില് ആത്മ രോഷം ഉണര്ത്തി എങ്കില് , അതു സ്വാഭാവികം മാത്രമാണ്. രക്ത സാക്ഷികള് ഉണ്ടാവുകയും ബഹു ജന പ്രക്ഷോ പണങ്ങള് നിയന്ത്രണാതീതമാവുകയും ചെയ്തെങ്കില് മാത്രമേ അനീതിക്കെതിരായ നിയമങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടാവുകയൊള്ളൂ എന്ന അവസ്ഥ ഒരു ജനതയുടെ ഗതികേടാണ് . നിയമങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടായാലും അതു പ്രാവര്ത്തികമാകില്ല എന്ന അവസ്ഥ അതിലും വലിയ ഗതികേടാണ്.

p ഗോവിന്ദപിള്ള അനുസ്മരണയില് ജീവല് സാഹിത്യവും, മാര്ക്സിയന് സൌന്ദര്യ ശാസ്ത്രവും, സാഹിത്യത്തിന്റ ധര്മ്മവും ഒക്കെ വിഷയങ്ങളായി തീരുക സ്വാഭാവികമാണ്. പണ്ഡിതനും എഴുത്തുകാരനും പത്രാധിപരും നിയമസഭാ സാമാജികാനും ഒക്കെ ആയിരുന്ന ശ്രീ p ഗോവിന്ദപിള്ളയുടെ സംഭാവനകള് ചര്ച്ച ചെയ്തു. മണമ്പൂര് സുരേഷ് പ്രധാന പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. നിരന്തരമായ പുസ്തക പാരായണം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഒടുങ്ങാത്ത വിജ്ഞാന ദാഹത്തിന്റെ പുറം കാഴ്ചയായിരുന്നു. പുസ്തക ശാലകള് കണ്ടാല് മറ്റെല്ലാം മറക്കുന്ന അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രകൃതം ഏറെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. ലണ്ടനില് മണമ്പൂര് സുരേഷിന്റെ അതിഥിയായി അദ്ദേഹം താമസിക്കേ അദ്ദേഹവുമായി പുറത്തു പോകാന് തയാറായി വന്ന ശ്രീമാന് ഫ്രാന്സിസ് ആണ്ജലോസിനോട് സുരേഷ് കൊടുത്ത ഉപദേശം ഇതായിരുന്നു. "ലൈബ്രറികളും പുസ്തക ക്കടകളും ഒഴിവാക്കിയാല് plan ചെയ്ത പോലെ കാര്യങ്ങള് നടക്കും". എന്നാല് അദ്ദേഹം പോയ പോക്കില് പുസ്തക്കട തേടിപ്പിടിക്കുകയും, അതുകാരണം യാത്ര താമസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത കഥ ഫ്രാന്സിസ് സരസമായി വിവരിച്ചത് വളരെ ഹൃദ്യമായി തോന്നി.
സാഹിത്യവും സാമൂഹിക ജീവിതവും പരസ്പര പൂരകങ്ങളാണ്. ജീവിതത്തില് നിന്നും പൂര്ണമായി അകന്നു മാറിക്കൊണ്ട് സാഹിത്യത്തിനു നിലനില്പ്പില്ല. സമൂഹ ജീവിത്തിലെ സംഘര്ഷങ്ങള് സര്ഗ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുള്ള ഈറ്റില്ലമായി മാറുന്നു എന്നത് പലപ്പോഴും നമ്മള് കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ളതാണ്. ലോക മഹാ യുദ്ധങ്ങള്, ഇന്ത്യാ വിഭജനം, കേരളത്തിലെ സാമൂഹിക അസമത്വങ്ങള് ഇവയൊക്കെ അതുല്യമായ രചനകള്ക്ക് വഴിതെളിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. സാമൂഹിക മാറ്റങ്ങള് ലാക്കാക്കി എഴുതിയിട്ടുള്ള ഉന്നതമായ കൃതികളും നാം കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. എങ്കിലും സാഹിത്യത്തെയും സാമൂഹിക ജീവിതത്തെയും ബന്ധപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന കാലാതിവര്ത്തിയായ ഒരു സമവാക്യം ഉണ്ടാക്കാന് വിഷമമാണ. ഇന്നും അവശേഷിക്കുന്ന ചോദ്യമാണ് സാഹിത്യത്തിന്റെ ധര്മ്മം സാമൂഹിക മാറ്റമാണോ എന്നത്. തര്ക്കം തുടരട്ടെ, ഉദാത്തമായ സൃഷ്ടികളും പിറക്കട്ടെ.
