Report MAUK and Sangeetha of the UK jointly hosted Malayalam literary meeting (കട്ടൻകാപ്പിയും കവിതയും) on Sunday 8th December 2013 at Croydon. Following participants presented at the event - Murukesh Panayara (സൈബർ സൌഹൃദം - കഥ), Francis Angilose (നിരീക്ഷണങ്ങൾ), Jimson (തിരിച്ചറിവ് – കഥ), Pradeep (ക്യാ - കടമ്മനിട്ട യുടെ കവിത) , Madhu (എന്റ ശവപ്പെട്ടി ചുമക്കു ന്നവരോട് - അയ്യപ്പന്റ കവിത) , Susheelan (സൂര്യ ഗീതം-ONV കവിത), Karthikeyan (കവിത), Manoj (പ്രയാഗ് പേജസ് – കഥ), Meera ( കവിത). പതിവുപോലെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ച രചനകളെ പ്പറ്റി ആസ്വാദനം ഉണ്ടായി. സാഹിത്യവും കലകളും സമൂഹത്തിലുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന ചലനങ്ങളെ ക്കുറിച്ച് ചർച്ച പുരോഗമിച്ചപ്പോൾ, 'സാഹിത്യത്തിന്റ ധർമം എന്ത് ' എന്ന പഴയ കാല ചർച്ചാ വിഷയത്തിലേക്ക് കടന്നു കയറുന്നുവോ എന്ന് സംശയിച്ചു. പൊള്ളിക്കുന്ന അനുഭവങ്ങളിലുടെ കടന്നു പോകുന്ന എഴുത്തുകാരൻ തന്റ രചനകളിൽ സന്നിവേശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ആശയങ്ങൾ ആസ്വാദകനിൽ ചലനങ്ങൾ സൃഷ്ടിക്കും. ആ ചലങ്ങൾ സ്വന്തമായോ സമൂഹത്തിന്റയോ പരിവർത്തനത്തിൽ കലാശിക്കുന്നതു മറ്റു പലതുമായി കൂടി ബന്ധ പ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ടാണ് . കഥ പറച്ചിലും, കവിതാ പാരായണവും, നിരീക്ഷണവും, ചർച്ചകളും കൊണ്ടു സജീവമായ വേദി മറക്കാനാവാത്ത ഒരനുഭവമായി മാറി. ഇത്തരം ഒത്തുചേരൽ ആവർത്തിക്കണമെന്ന പൊതു അഭിപ്രായ ത്തോടെ സമ്മേളനം അവസാനിച്ചു. {gallery}croydondec13{/gallery}

പ്രണയിനിയുടെ കണ്ണുകളിൽ നോക്കി 'കവിത ഊറു ന്ന മിഴികൾ ' എന്നു പറയുന്നിടത്ത് കവിതയുടെ നിർവചനം വിശാലമാവുകയാണ്. കട്ടൻകാപ്പി ഊന്നൽ നല്കുന്നത് ആസ്വാദനത്തിലാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷകളില്ലാതെ ആസ്വദി ക്കുവാനാണ് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നതും. ജീവിതം വച്ചുനീട്ടുന്ന വരകളിലും, നിറങ്ങളിലും, ശബ്ദത്തിലും, വരികളിലും, ചലനങ്ങളിലും സൌന്ദര്യത്തിന്റെ വിസ്മയങ്ങൾ ആസ്വദിക്കുവാനാണ് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത്. അറിവ് ആസ്വാദനത്തിന്റെ മാറ്റു കൂട്ടുമെങ്കിലും, അതോരനിവര്യത ആണെന്നു ശ ഠി ക്കുന്നതിനോട് വിയോജിക്കുന്നു. അഭയദേവ് മുതൽ റഫീക് അഹമ്മദ് വരെയുള്ള ചലച്ചിത്ര ഗാന രചയിതാക്കളുടെ വരികളി ലൂടെ നടത്തിയ തീർത്ഥ യാത്ര പുതിയ ഒരു അനുഭവമായിരുന്നു. സംഘമായി ആലപിച്ചു, സൗഹൃദത്തിന്റെ ഊഷ്മള മേഘലകളിലേക്ക് പടർന്നു കയറുമ്പോൾ, രാവിനു നീളം പോരെന്നു തോന്നി. As the most popular form of poetry, film songs gained much attention with the synergistic support of music composition. But what about the naked lines of Malayalam film songs? Once downgraded as inferior to mainstream poetry and literature, a closer look may reveal that the perception is wrong. While most of the songs fail to deliver any flavour of poetry, some are real gems clad inside music and visual imagery. Here Kattankaappiyum Kavithayum attempts to unearth some of the gems of yester years, the Malayalam Film Industry contributed to the literature. Kattan Kaappiyum Kavithayum in association with Kaumudi Europe presents the re-reading of "Indulekha" by Dr N Gopalakrishnan. All people who are interested in literature are invited to Kerala house, 671 Romford Road, Manor Park, London E12 5AD to participate in this programme. It is scheduled to begin at 7pm on Saturday 13th April. "Hailed as Malayalam's first novel to tick all boxes to be a novel, Indulekha's eponymous heroine has been hailed as the model of free and independent woman and also as the brand ambassador for female emancipation through English education. What if this was all a myth? Following Chandu Menon's own confessions about how the novel grew out of demands and suggestions of his friends, I create a mythical friend who asks Menon to kill off Indulekha.
