എഴുപതുകളിലെ യുവ കവികളില് ഏറെ ശ്രദ്ധേയനായിരുന്ന ശ്രീ കുരീപ്പുഴ ശ്രീകുമാറിന്റെ കവിതകള് ആയിരുന്നു ഇന്നത്തെ മുഖ്യ ചര്ച്ചാ വിഷയം. വര്ത്തമാന കാലത്തോടുള്ള അസംതൃപ്തമായ യുവത്വത്തിന്റെ പോര് വിളികളായിരുന്നു ശ്രീകുമാറിന്റെ കവിതകള്. അതില് ലക്ഷ്യബോധം നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട യുവത്വത്തിന്റെ സംഘര്ഷങ്ങളും, വ്യവസ്ഥിതികളോടുള്ള വെല്ലുവിളികളും, അമര്ഷവും ഒക്കെ പ്രതിഭലിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. വേട്ടയാടപ്പെട്ട യുവത്വത്തിന്റെ മുരള്ച്ചകളായി വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്ക പ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കവിതകള് പലരും ചൊല്ലി - ആത്മഹത്യാ മുനമ്പ്, ചോരക്കലാശം, നീല ബലൂണുകള്, നരക വിക്രീടിതം-.
സുഗതകുമാരി പലര്ക്കും കവയത്രി മാത്രമാണ്. എന്നാല് D C ബുക്സ് പുറത്തിറക്കിയ 'മേഘം വന്നു തൊട്ടപ്പോള്' എന്ന പുസ്തകം വായിച്ചാല് മലയാളത്തിന്റെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട കവയത്രിയുടെ മറ്റൊരു മുഖം വ്യക്തമാകും. വളരെ ചെറിയ സംഭവങ്ങളുടെ വിവരണങ്ങളാണതില്. അനാവൃതമാകുന്ന മനുഷ്യ സ്നേഹത്തിന്റെ, പ്രതിബദ്ധതയുടെ, സൗകുമാര്യത്തിന്റെ, പ്രതീക്ഷയുടെ ഒക്കെ തരംഗങ്ങളാണതില് ഉള്ളത്. മേഘം വന്നു തൊട്ടപ്പോള്, രക്തത്തിന്റെ നിറം, ഓര്മയില് സൂക്ഷിക്കുവാന് എന്നിവ വായിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.
ഗാന്ധിജിയെ മറക്കാന് പരിശ്രമിക്കുന്ന ഇന്നത്തെ തലമുറക്ക് ഒരിക്കലെങ്കിലും ഒന്ന് ഓടിച്ചു നോക്കാന് വേണ്ടി ആവണം വള്ളത്തോള് 'എന്റെ ഗുരുനാഥന് ' എഴുതിയത്. കവിത ആലപിക്കപ്പെട്ടു (കൂട്ടായിട്ട് - പ്രായമുള്ളവര് ഓര്മ്മയില് നിന്നും, അല്ലാത്തവര് പുസ്തകത്തില് നിന്നും ) സിസിലി ആന്റി സ്വന്തം കഥയായ 'സ്നേഹം' വായിച്ചു. ഇന്നത്തെ കട്ടന് കാപ്പിയും കുശാല്.

The Love queen of Malabar" tells the story of Madhavikkutty . The award winning author Merrily Wiesbord spent 10 years with Madhavikkutty to prepare this book. Here Madhavikkutty talks frankly about her life, love affair, conversion to Islam and her life after conversion. "I am tired of being Suriya. I want to be Madhavikkutty again" ...but she didn't fearing reprisals from Muslim groups. A person is free to choose or leave a religion but Madhavikkutty had death threats from Hindu groups after conversion to Islam. Later she experienced the same from Islamic groups for speaking up her mind. She also talks about her husband who had sent her to superiors and minister for promotions in the banking sector. She became celibate at the early age of 45 because of disgust with her husband Das 's homosexual behaviour which he kept throughout their controversial marriage. Madhavikkutty's "My Story" was a controversial book but that only said half the story. Here in this book we read her own version of her life. So Madhavikkutty is triumphant over everyone who tried to control her life through religion etc. This is the last and definitive version of Madhavikkutty 's life. April edition of ‘Kattan Kaappiyum Kavithayum’ gathering was successfully conducted on Friday 13th April 2012 at Kerala House in the presence of drama and literature enthusiasts. This month's theme was the life and works of ‘N N Pillai’, one of the stalwarts of Malayalam Drama realm who during his lifetime successfully donned the cap of actor, playwright, director and orator. His popular plays include Kapalika, Prethalokam, Gorilla, Kanakku Chembakaraman and Easwaran Arastil. The gathering discussed the life of N N Pillai and his contributions to Malayalam Drama. Sasi S Kulamada, an acclaimed Malayalam Drama Director in the UK, presented NN Pillai's Autobiography 'Njan' and his other popular work 'Natakadarpanam'.
